Literary Matters Officially Kicks Off
By ESB on June 17, 2009.

Welcome to the official inaugural post of LITERARY MATTERS!!

Most of you know either Cai or me, and many of you know both of us, but how we came together to create LITERARY MATTERS is a serendipitous story...

Every time that Avideh Bashirrad, a Director of Marketing at Random House, and coincidentally, a GHS Class of ‘93 classmate of Cai’s, told me that I needed a website, my back went up against the chair and I was paralyzed. I don’t know anything at all about technology, and I’m not much interested in expanding my horizons.  The technology of 2009 certainly meets my needs.

Cai had been an officer of the Greenwich High School Class of ’93 and I was its advisor, so I worked with her and really got to know her.  We became friends and always stayed in touch.  Michael and I danced at Cai and Jeff’s wedding;   I picked up my weekly winter soup from Jeff at Plum Pure Foods.  Just after Christmas,2008,  I had dinner with Cai and Jeff, and I was reporting to them about a recent lunch with Avideh when she berated me for no website.

From that moment on, Cai and I were on the fast track to create Literary Matters.  Cai has taken over the development of the site and we’ll work  together on our author events.  All of this is very heady and exciting, and none of this would have been possible without Cai’s marketing and entrepreneurial expertise.  We hope that you like our website and that you find it helpful—and of course, we hope that you’ll order your books from us.

Please let us know what you’d like us to do to meet your literary needs and all literary matters.

Esther,

I never knew this was happening for you. The site is great. It not only gives me a place to look for books that are recommended by someone who has my taste in books, but it's also a place for me to find worthwhile reading for my grandchildren no matter what age they are.
